I understand the emotional impact and the cost to those involved — and to the families who support them; I also understand the confidentiality concerns of those who work in high-profile environments. I am passionate about supporting first responders and assisting them in processing traumatic events that may become barriers to their ability to move forward.
With 35 years of first responder community experience specializing in critical incidents and trauma, Teia is uniquely prepared to support clients in the law enforcement and public safety fields. After serving in the Navy, she worked as an Emergency Medical Technician, a Raleigh Police Officer, and a North Carolina State Trooper. She was a founding member of the State Highway Patrol's peer support team and the North Carolina Law Enforcement Assistance Program and is a certified instructor for the State of North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Educations Standards and with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. Teia has direct response experience with numerous large-scale disasters and traumatic events, to include the mass shootings at Virginia Tech University and the Carthage Nursing Home.

As an Air Force psychologist, Dr. Rella consulted to security forces on topics such as suicide prevention, hostage negotiation, alcohol-related incident prevention and stress management; he evaluated candidates for military police positions and assessed candidates seeking security clearance for other security-sensitive roles. Since assuming ownership of Cary Psychology in 2008, he has conducted thousands of evaluations for law enforcement and public safety agencies across the state. Dr. Rella is a member of the American Psychological Association, the North Carolina Psychological Association and the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology.

An experienced and bilingual administrator in healthcare and human services, Nellie coordinates all practice systems for scheduling, reporting, and billing services. Since 2001, Nellie has supported a variety of mental health programs and services, to include work in trauma and with the criminal and juvenile justice systems. She is trained in the Community Resilience Model and Mental Health First Aid.
